Note: in 1841 the family was living in Hockwold cum Wilton: also present was James KIDD aged 20, an ag lab, still with the family in 1861. William was managing the Feltwell Anchor Inn in 1845, 1854 and 1869. In 1861 he was farming 126 acres, and as well as James KIDD, two other ag labs were living there: William HARRISON aged 40 born in Littleport and William ALLINGTON, born in Lakenheath.. By 1877 he had bought the Plough and 5 acres of land.

The Norfolk Chronicle of 30 Oct 1858 reported that a John COCKSEDGE was given 14 days hard labour for stealing 50 Pieces of turf from William

The Norfolk News of 14 Jun 1862 reported that William, a grocer and landlord of the Anchor Inn was fined 21s and 21s costs for having in use six false weights and six false measures.. In 1866 his farm was declared free of infection during the cattle plague (Foot and Mouth?) . See his will here
