WILLIAM OLDMAN'S WILL 1846


William Oldman 503 Baset 1846 Norfolk Records Office.

In the Name of God Amen. This is the last will and testament of me William Oldman, senior, Miller in the parish of St Peter in the Borough of Thetford, being of perfect sound mind and quite capable of making a will.

First of all I commend my soul into the hands of God as into the hands of a faithful creator and then in consequence I give and bequeath unto my youngest son Stephen all my personal property of any description whether money or goods or book debts, live and dead stock with growing crops and everything found on the premises now in my posession whether at the mill or in the premises where I now reside.

And I hereby appoint the said Stephen Oldman the sole executor of this my last will and testament, charging him, the said Stephen Oldman with the payment of all my just debts, funeral expenses and the charges of proving this my will if there is sufficient property

And I further charge him with the maintenance of his dear mother, my beloved wife Elizabeth Oldman during the term of her natural life. To this sheet of paper I have set my hand and seal this eighth day of July one thousand eight hundred and forty six in the presence of the undermentioned witnesses.
